This book is very special to me because John Saul was my first experience with a horror novel. The Homing is one of the first John Saul books I read, which I found when the bookmobile would visit my town once a month. I would stay up late reading these books and then be so scared that it was hard to sleep/5.   The Homing: A Novel and millions of other books are available for instant access. Homing's main characters are a young orphaned woman working as a lowly "button girl" in a large department store and her interactions with a young lawyer and his family. The book was written in the early 's and gives a look at life during that time/5(60).   Each book deals with a war or pre-war action (except the war of ) in which the US has taken part from the Revolutionary War (Dawn's Early Light) to the Civil War (Yankee Stranger) to the Homing with is the last of the series and the 4th book which deals with WWI and WWII and the years in between/5(25).

Kind of an obsession, I would say, with Elswyth Thane. But if you can look past that weirdness, this series is /5. Homing explores the affinity many people have with this unique breed of bird and what they can effectively tell us about our philosophical yearning to belong and having a place to call our own to return to in order to recharge. It is so much more profound than just a book on birds, and one thing is for certain this will change your /5.   About Henrietta Rose-Innes. Henrietta Rose-Innes is a South African writer based in Cape Town. Her novel Nineveh was published by Random House Struik in , following a short-story collection, Homing and two earlier novels: Shark's Egg and The Rock Alphabet/5.
